Nice app, but needs "polish"

Hey guys,

Impressive app. I'm not sure if you're the first ones to get this right, but it's the first I've found (referring to PC File Explorer). Many apps allow you to download phone contents from your computer browser, but this is the first I've found that allows me to download computer files to phone wirelessly.

Installation was straightforward and I had no trouble, but I'm afraid it might be too many steps for many potential users. I think the QR code link was especially clever - it does some stuff for you and thus makes the process more smooth. I think the installation needs more of that if you want the average user to not give up.

I don't have a specific idea at the moment, but I'll think about it and get back to you guys. The general idea is to get it to install and connect in as few clicks as possible. For example, I think some people would give up right at the first instruction ie go to blackcaret.com/L/7

Maybe you can have the user log into their google account in the beginning and auto-email the link to the account so they can click on it. I know it seems trivial and hard to grasp why people can't type the simple website, but I swear this little detail would make it easier. Think about trying to explain how get PC File Manager to work to your mom. As many steps as possible should happen behind the scenes after the user says it's ok.

Anyway, the app works well and thank you guys for making it! I don't post on many apps' forums... just the ones I think are clever. So far that includes you guys and LlamaLab's Automate app.

I haven't run into any bugs yet but I'll let you know. I'll try to come up with some suggestions as I play with it.

Re: Nice app, but needs "polish"

Hello Bob,

Thank you for the feedback. The idea of an email is quite nice and it wasn't used earlier because users do not tend to share their emails easily. However, the current status of the app is in pause that is why there is no update any time soon. There are many-many things that are missing and still in a very long todo list.

But again, there will be an option for email as well, in future releases.

Thank you again.

Re: Nice app, but needs "polish"

I see. I didn't know it was on hold. That's too bad since it has a lot of potential, but I understand. Life gets in the way. Maybe try to sell out to Lenovo (owns Motorola Mobility now.) Every cell phone maker includes their own file manager (and tons of bloatware) with the phone. Their file manager isn't bad and has the function for the phone to be an ftp server which you can then use to transfer files. Unfortunately it's only a 1-way transfer ie go to ftp site on your computer and download files from phone to computer. Just a thought. Keep up the good work and good luck!
